The announcement was made at an event at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, to tell journalists and members of the public about the return of the popular show which went off the air in 2017.  ASUU Begins Preparation For Strike, Declares Monday Lecture-free; The Academic Staff Union of Universities has urged its chapters across the country to sensitise members of the public on the situation between the union and the Federal Government. This is as it declared Monday, February 7, 2022, as a lecture-free day in a bid to enhance the sensitisation. The National President of the Union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed this in an interview on Saturday evening. The last national strike by ASUU was in March 2020 and it lasted till December 2020, when a Memorandum of Action was signed. However, a year after signing the MoA, ASUU accused the government of failing to fulfil its side of the bargain and threatened to mobilise for another strike immediately.  Obasanjo named eternal grand patron of kegites;  Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been named eternal patron of Kegites club, a socio-cultural group in Nigeria. The Kegites club was established in 1962 at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The club is one of the popular socio-cultural groups in Nigerian tertiary institutions. On Wednesday, the gyration committee of the group paid a courtesy visit to Obasanjo at his Abeokuta residence.  Police: 150 suspects arrested, 61 guns recovered in Imo within one year The Imo police command says it arrested 150 suspects linked to kidnapping and “terrorism” within one year in the state. Rabiu Hussaini, Imo commissioner of police, announced this on Friday when he received Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, at the command’s headquarters in Owerri. According to Hussaini, the command also recovered 61 guns, as well as 27 vehicles from suspects. “Between the months of January 2021 and January 2022, the unit arrested a total of 105 kidnappers/armed robbers, 45 terrorists, and recovered 27 vehicles of different makes and assorted caliber of arms and ammunition,” he said. Evans denies being a kidnapper, says ‘police forced me to sign documents; Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnap kingpin all known as Evans, had denied the allegation of his involvement in abducting a certain businessman. While answering questions from Yusuf Sule, the prosecution counsel, during Friday’s court session, Evans said he was forced to sign documents and act in a certain manner as directed by the police.  U.S. Court postpones sentencing of Hushpuppi till July 11 The United States District Court for the Central District of California has postponed the sentencing of Ramon “Hushpuppi” Abbas till July 11, 2022. The court document said Judge Otis D. Wright in Los Angeles granted the order after Hushpuppi’s lawyers led by Louis Shapiro  requested for postponement. He is expected to remain in custody for the time being. He was previously scheduled to be sentenced on February 14 for duping people across different continents to the tune of millions of dollars. He pleaded guilty last year to the charges. “At the request of counsel, the sentencing is continued to July 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.,” the court document said after the decision was taken on February 2.

 BREAKING: Fear Of Another Coup As Heavy Gunfire Is Reported Near Guinea-Bissau Government Palace; Heavy gunfire was heard on Tuesday in the capital of Guinea-Bissau near a government compound, where a cabinet meeting was being held. Though it was not  clear who was firing the gunshots. A security source with contacts inside the building said people had been hit by the gunfire.  Another source reported that two people were dead, but it was unclear if they were security forces or those who launched the attack. Political instability has blighted the country for decades. Nine coups or attempted coups since independence from Portugal in 1974 have hobbled efforts to pull the economy beyond its reliance on the export of cashew nuts.

  Some students of St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute wrote their names on the history book as they emerged victorious in the just concluded Awka Dioceasan quiz competition sponsored by the catholic bishop of the diocese, Most Rev PC Ezeokafor.  The mangager Rev.Fr. Val Ezenduka with the participants. The competition started at the region level. All the catholic secondary schools in Awka Catholic Diocese participated at their various level.  St Anthony’s Institute was not left out, as some of the students represented the school at Adazi region. They emerged the winner at that level which qualified them to partake at the diocesan level.  The diocesan level took place at St John of God catholic secondary school, Awka on the 1st of February, 2022.  Nike Suspends Relationship With Mason Greenwood Nike have announced they have suspended their relationship with Mason Greenwood following the Manchester United forward’s arrest over allegations of rape and assault. Greenwood, 20, was arrested on Sunday following allegations on social media and spent the night in custody after being questioned. Nike initially released a statement to express their ‘deep concern’ over the allegations levelled at the England international. The sportswear giant have now taken the step to cut ties with the player.  NAF Acquires 38 New Aircrafts For Terrorism Fight; No fewer than 38 new aircrafts have been inducted into the inventory of the Nigerian Air Force to combat insurgency activities in the country. Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, in the latest edition of the Airman, a magazine of the Nigerian Air Force, made the disclosure. Amao explained that the latest addition to the fleet included the 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft recently acquired by the Nigerian Government. He said while some of the aircraft had been deployed to tackle insecurity in some parts of the country, the others were being used to upscale its pilots’ training. The Chief of Air affirmed that 173 pilots have been trained in the last six years with additional 155 student pilots undergoing training.  He said, “Prior to the coming on board of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in 2015, the NAF was in the pitiable state owing to neglect as most of its platforms were grounded or in states of disrepair.
