Uche Ogbodo |
In an interview with Legacy TV on Thursday, the 42-year-old said her ordeal started at the end of 2019 when she broke down due to stress.
The mother of two said the development was followed by intense fatigue which made her collapse on movie sets on several occasions.
Uche said she was eventually diagnosed with “three deadly ailments”, part of which she said was similar to what killed Sound Sultan, the ace musician.
"I became really sick at the end of 2019…a lot of things were happening to me but I realised that I became sick due to too much stress. At some points, I even fainted while on set…which is like the first time in my life,” she said.
The film star also disclosed that during her struggle with the ailments, she thought she would die.
Uche also recounted how she battled discrimination from people at the time, adding that some people thought she had HIV due to her condition.
"I had three deadly ailments and that messed up my whole life…blood count was terrible, hormones kept skyrocketing… I kept having this feeling that I was going to die. Something kept telling me I won’t make it to 2020,” she added.
“I couldn’t walk for about a week or two. The sickness was really deadly but it appeared easy the way I put it out there. This sickness kills a lot of people. Part of what happened to me was similar to that of Sound Sultan which killed him eventually.
“To think that people died from this thing that happened to me and I am still here. I am still working, I am still fine. I told my sister that if anything happens to me, she should take care of my daughter like I am here.
“People judge people so much. On social media, people judge people so much. You don’t know what that person goes through. I was going through hell, I was called names. People said I had HIV, that I was too dry. I was too skinny, I wasn’t looking fresh. I was called different names all through that time.
“All that COVID-19 period, I wasn’t bathing. I wasn’t bathing during the three months lockdown. I couldn’t take care of myself but my man was there every day with me.”
The actress appreciated her man, friends, and other persons who supported her at the time.
“My family were there, my sisters, my daughter Mildred, they were with me. It was a terrible experience for me. I couldn’t even share it for a long time. I just kept thanking God,” she said.

Adekunle Gold has released ‘Mercy’, a track off ‘Catch Me If You Can’, his next studio album:
The music star had earlier said he will be releasing his next album on February 4.
On Friday, Gold came through with ‘Mercy’, a track mixed by Simi, his wife, and produced by Blaise Beatz.
Adekunle Gold has released three albums so far, namely: ‘Gold’ (2016), ‘About 30’ (2018), and ‘Afropop’ (2020).
He gained popularity after putting out ‘Sade’, his 2015 hit, and a high life cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’.
The singer, while on his musical tour, recently spoke of how he had battled stage freight and low concert turnouts.
“I remember in 2016 the turnout of some of these cities was super low. I remember how some of my performances were lackluster,” Adekunle Gold had said.
“I used to have so much stage fright with shaky vocals while I performed. Some nights on stage I didn’t even know how to engage the crowd if there was any technical issue. so many funny stories from that year.
“But look all that is gone now, it’s all about growing, I’m still growing and AG Baby is in the building. I have had so much fun in different cities, every song I performed went off and the energy has been really crazy.”
