Qatar World Cup: 1.2 million tickets requested within 24 hours.....

Some 1.2 million tickets were requested within the first 24 hours after they went on sale for the 2022 FIFA World Cup holding in Qatar from November to December;

Football governing body FIFA, which disclosed this on Thursday, said the demand for tickets was greatest from the host country.

This request from Qatar was followed by requests from Argentina, Mexico, the U.S., the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Britain, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and France, FIFA said in a statement.

More than 140,000 tickets were requested for the final that is due to take place at Lusail Stadium.

Meanwhile, there were more than 80,000 requests for tickets for the opening match, FIFA said further.

The first sale period started on Wednesday and will finish on February 8.

In cases where the number of applications exceeds the available contingent, tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw process.

Qatar is to host the 2022 World Cup from November 21 to December 18.

  Some students of St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute wrote their names on the history book as they emerged victorious in the just concluded Awka Dioceasan quiz competition sponsored by the catholic bishop of the diocese, Most Rev PC Ezeokafor.  The mangager Rev.Fr. Val Ezenduka with the participants. The competition started at the region level. All the catholic secondary schools in Awka Catholic Diocese participated at their various level.  St Anthony’s Institute was not left out, as some of the students represented the school at Adazi region.   Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order to the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to change his clothes; Previously, Nyako had directed the DSS to allow the IPOB leader to have his bath whenever he wanted to, change his clothes, eat properly and practise his faith. However, at the court session on Tuesday, the newly introduced Kanu's lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, complained that his client was still being subjected to poor treatment in DSS custody. He said Kanu was still being kept in solitary confinement and that any other detainee who greeted him was also kept in solitary confinement.
