New date, venue announced for 2022 Grammy Awards...

 The  2022 Grammy Awards will be held in Las Vegas on April 3, the Recording Academy has announced;

The award ceremony was previously scheduled to hold on January 31, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles.

The event was, however, shifted due to the Omicron variant that has sparked a new wave of COVID-19 infections.

In a statement, the Recording Academy said the Grammy awards, which honour top performances in music, will now hold at the MGM Grand Garden Center in Las Vegas.

Trevor Noah, the ace comedian, it added, will return to host this year’s awards as he did last year. The ceremony will be televised and streamed live from the venue.

This is the second time that the award event will be rescheduled in two years.

The 2021 Grammy Awards were initially scheduled to take place in January. It eventually took place in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The  nomination list for the 2022 awards was released in November last year with a number of Nigerian artistes among the nominees.

Wizkid was nominated in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category for ‘Essence’, his collaborative song with Tems.

Also nominated in the category is ‘Pa Pa Pa’ by Femi Kuti and ‘Do Yourself’ by Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy.

Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album and ‘Legacy +’ by Femi and Made Kuti were put up in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.

Last year, ‘Twice As Tall’, Burna Boy's album, became the first Afrobeats album to win a Grammy award.
