 2023: Okorocha Fixes Date To Declare Presidential Ambition



Former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has fixed a date to formally declare his presidential ambition under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The chairman of a group working for the actualization of an Okorocha presidency, the New Nigeria Movement, Prof. Aliyu Abdullahi Jibia, made this known on Saturday.


Jibia disclosed that the lawmaker representing Imo West in the National Assembly would declare his presidential bid on Saturday, January 31.


He stated that Okorocha will publicly announce his ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari during a world press conference on that day.


Okorocha, a three-time presidential aspirant and one of the founding fathers of APC, had led a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the merger that led to the formation of the ruling party in 2013.


Okorocka would join the likes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; Chief Moses Chia Ayom and Ikechukwu Dallas Chima to contest for the top seat in the country.

Recall that the APC in Imo State had denied the membership of Okorocha and refuted claims of endorsing the former state governor’s 2023 presidential ambition.


APC claimed in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday through its publicity secretary in the state, Cajetan Duke, that Okorocha has failed to revalidate his membership during APC’s last registration and revalidation exercise.


The party stressed that the Imo APC led by Macdonald Ebere, could not pass any vote of confidence in Okorocha due to his ‘melodramatics’ when he was the governor of Imo State.

St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute Agulu Victorous again...

  Some students of St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute wrote their names on the history book as they emerged victorious in the just concluded Awka Dioceasan quiz competition sponsored by the catholic bishop of the diocese, Most Rev PC Ezeokafor.  The mangager Rev.Fr. Val Ezenduka with the participants. The competition started at the region level. All the catholic secondary schools in Awka Catholic Diocese participated at their various level.  St Anthony’s Institute was not left out, as some of the students represented the school at Adazi region.   Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order to the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to change his clothes; Previously, Nyako had directed the DSS to allow the IPOB leader to have his bath whenever he wanted to, change his clothes, eat properly and practise his faith. However, at the court session on Tuesday, the newly introduced Kanu's lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, complained that his client was still being subjected to poor treatment in DSS custody. He said Kanu was still being kept in solitary confinement and that any other detainee who greeted him was also kept in solitary confinement. Evans denies being a kidnapper, says ‘police forced me to sign documents; Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnap kingpin all known as Evans, had denied the allegation of his involvement in abducting a certain businessman. While answering questions from Yusuf Sule, the prosecution counsel, during Friday’s court session, Evans said he was forced to sign documents and act in a certain manner as directed by the police. He denied being a kidnapper, adding that he has a transport business with over 30 workers. Evans also denied collecting $420,000 as ransom from the family of one Sylvanus Ahamonu, a businessman, stating that he never met the man until his arrest.
